Lewis Hamilton Secures Thrilling Victory in Barcelona to Claim His First Grand Prix Win with Mercedes Rival Beaten by the F1 Champion

Lewis Hamilton secured an emotional first grand prix victory with Ferrari in Spain on Sunday, ending Kimi Antonelli's five-race winning streak. At 41, Hamilton became Formula 1's oldest winner since Australian Jack Brabham in 1970.

The Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix triumph marked Hamilton's first win since Belgium 2024 and his record seventh at the Circuit de Catalunya. Italian Antonelli, the 19-year-old championship leader for Mercedes, retired five laps from the end due to an electrical shutdown, slashing his lead over Hamilton to 41 points.

George Russell finished second for Mercedes, with McLaren's reigning champion Lando Norris third. Hamilton expressed his gratitude to the Ferrari factory over the radio, stating, "Grazie a tutti a Maranello... You've helped me achieve this dream and I'm so proud of you."

The win was also Ferrari's first since 2024 and marked the first time three British drivers shared the podium since the 1968 U.S. Grand Prix. Hamilton benefited from a virtual safety car to make a strategic third stop, ultimately coming out ahead.

Max Verstappen finished fourth, followed by McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Red Bull's Isack Hadjar. Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto secured seventh and eighth places for Renault-owned Alpine, with Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad completing the points places. Hamilton's teammate Charles Leclerc retired due to a reported power steering problem.
