Manchester City gain upper hand in Ayyoub Allal Bouaddi pursuit as Chelsea turn down €27m offer for highly sought-after defender

The summer transfer window is now open, with clubs actively working on major deals despite the World Cup dominating the headlines. Most clubs have already completed their planning, identifying target signings and players to offload.

Manchester City are leading the chase to sign 18-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille, with reports suggesting a deal that would see the Morocco international loaned back to Lille before joining City in 2027. Lille are seeking around €70 million for the player, who has a market value of €50 million.

Chelsea are in negotiations with Italian side Como over the potential sale of defender Trevoh Chalobah, who is currently with England at the World Cup. Como have offered a package worth €27 million, but Chelsea are holding out for a deal starting at €35 million.

Brighton have made a bid to sign 18-year-old Italian centre-back Honest Ahanor from Atalanta, viewing him as a long-term replacement for Jan Paul van Hecke, who joined Tottenham earlier this month. Brighton's initial offer is worth €34 million, but Atalanta are likely to demand a higher fee.
