New images reveal murder weapon, fatal injury in Texas high school track meet stabbing of Austin Metcalf
A Texas court has released new images related to the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony, who was convicted of stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf to death at a high school track meet. The photos, made public by Collin County court, show the fatal wound Metcalf sustained, as well as the moments after the killing.
Among the released images are a blood-soaked jacket and the folding Ozark Trail multi-tool knife prosecutors said was used to fatally stab Metcalf. The crime scene photos also include pictures of the bleachers at David Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, where the incident occurred on April 2, 2025.
The trial exhibits include 911 calls, police body-camera footage, and a forensic evidence photograph showing a measurement of the stab wound on Metcalf's body. In the body-camera video, Anthony is heard telling officers that Metcalf had put his hands on him, prompting him to act in self-defense.
Anthony, who was 17 at the time of the incident, admitted to stabbing Metcalf but claimed he acted in self-defense after the teen and his brother confronted him for sitting in their team's tent. Anthony has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the stabbing and will be eligible for parole after serving half his sentence.
