Tragedy Strikes as 12 People Die in Deadly Skydiving Plane Crash Nightmare

At least 12 people were killed in a plane crash in Missouri on Sunday. Authorities reported that 11 of the victims were skydivers and the 12th was the pilot. The crash occurred near Butler Memorial Airport, approximately 65 miles south of Kansas City.

The plane caught fire after the crash, but emergency responders extinguished the flames shortly after impact. According to a spokesperson for Bates County Emergency Management, the incident happened just before 11:30 a.m. when a private plane departing the airport turned around for an unknown reason and crashed near Business 49 Highway.

Dennis Jacobs, the acting airport manager, suspects the plane experienced power issues before the crash. Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Justin Ewing confirmed the aircraft was carrying passengers preparing to skydive. The Bates County Sheriff's Office closed Business 49 near the airport in both directions as a precaution.

Troopers, along with local officers and deputies, responded to the scene and are assisting with the crash investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are also on the scene, working to determine the cause of the crash and whether any skydivers exited the aircraft before it went down.
