Apple's Crash Detection feature, which made its debut with the
iPhone 14, reportedly came to the aid of a couple who were driving a BMW and got into a recent car accident, as per media reports. The driver of the BMW E92 recounted that a BMW E90 suddenly pulled out in front of them after they had just turned a corner.
As reported by 9to5Mac, both vehicles sustained significant damage in the collision. Fortunately, the couple only suffered minor injuries, thanks to the rapid response of Apple's Crash Detection system.
A passenger on Reddit expressed their gratitude for the Apple SOS feature after experiencing their first car accident as a passenger. Despite enduring only a few fractures, medical professionals were amazed at their fortunate outcome.
In this situation, the Apple SOS feature played a critical role by automatically dialing 911 and alerting their emergency contacts, as the passenger was unable to do so themselves due to their condition.
This incident underscores the effectiveness of the Crash Detection feature, which is compatible with the iPhone 14 and later, the Apple Watch Series 8 and later, the Apple Watch SE (2nd generation), and the Apple Watch Ultra or later.

In a separate incident in August, the Crash Detection feature once again demonstrated its worth by alerting first responders to a severely injured driver involved in an accident.
This incident took place on August 5 in the Grey Highlands, on Road 130 southwest of Highway 10, in Ontario, US. The driver, Hannah Ralph, received prompt assistance thanks to her iPhone's capability to contact emergency responders and notify her emergency contacts, including her friend Grace Workman-Porecki, as reported by AppleInsider.
