Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max Encounters Screen Burn-In Problems After Overheating

Apple's most recent flagship model, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, is facing issues with screen burn-in. Screen burn-in happens when an image remains on the screen for an extended period, causing it to remain visible even when the displayed content changes. This issue is more common with OLED displays, where the burnt-in image can still be seen even when the device is powered off.

Several users of the iPhone 15 Pro Max have shared their experiences with screen burn-in on Reddit. One user posted an image showing a faint outline of the virtual QWERTY keyboard, with individual letters still visible on each key.

Another Reddit user calmly mentioned that they encountered the same problem and that Apple would provide a replacement device. While the issue appears to be relatively rare, with only five reports seen so far, it's a genuine concern with the 15 Pro Max, unlike previous generations.

Typically, screen burn-in starts as image retention, where a faint outline of a previous screen remains visible but eventually fades over time.

My iPhone 15 Pro Max already shows OLED burn-in of the keyboard. So when I look at a black screen, I see a massive keyboard.

To prevent image retention from evolving into permanent burn-in, users should turn off their devices when not in use. Apps that display static images for extended periods or have unchanging screen elements, like Google Maps, are more likely to cause screen burn-in.

The screen burn-in issue with iPhone 15 Pro Max devices raises concerns for both Apple and its users.

While it's currently a relatively uncommon problem, screen burn-in is a gradual process that occurs over an extended period, suggesting possible imperfections in the OLED displays used in these devices. Users experiencing burn-in should contact Apple for a replacement, and everyone should take precautions to prevent image retention from becoming permanent burn-in.
