says analyst: 2024 Apple Watch unlikely to have significant innovation

Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has indicated that the Apple Watch set to debut in 2024 may not bring forth significant breakthroughs and won't feature a micro-LED display.

In a Medium blog post, Kuo mentioned that the much-anticipated blood glucose monitoring function is unlikely to be available until at least 2025. Kuo also forecasted a potential 15% year-on-year decline in Apple Watch shipments for the current year, estimating a range of 36-38 million units.

Kuo expressed that if there's another year-over-year decrease in 2024, the Apple Watch might need to be repositioned. He believes that the integration of Vision Pro headsets with the Apple Watch could deliver an unmatched and inventive health management experience, thereby boosting the shipments of both products.

Simultaneously, Kuo anticipates a decrease in demand for Apple's 3nm chipsets in 2024, prompting major players to take a step back.

It's expected that Apple will reduce its orders for 3nm chips next year, leading to a 20 to 30 percent reduction in EUV equipment shipments for the Netherlands-based semiconductor company ASML.

Apple has recently introduced its latest offerings, the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2, at its Wonderlust event. The Apple Watch Series 9 features a "Double Tap" hand gesture function for touchless interaction and Precision Finding for iPhone, among other noteworthy features.

The Series 9 has undergone an internal revamp, including the incorporation of a brand-new Apple silicon chip. This chip boasts 60% more transistors and is 30% faster than its predecessor, the S8 chip. Furthermore, it features a four-core neural engine that enables tasks involving neural processing to be completed twice as quickly.
