Chicago Fire Set Sights on Signing Free Agent Robert Lewandowski in Blockbuster Move

Chicago Fire are making a push to sign Robert Lewandowski, with the Major League Soccer outfit having targeted the Polish striker ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. Following his departure from Barcelona in May, Lewandowski is now considering a new challenge and is tempted by a move to America.

The club, set to move into a new state-of-the-art stadium in 2028, is seeking to build a winning team with recognisable stars to boost fan interest and market visibility. The stadium, to be known as McDonald's Park, is part of the club's growth plan, with the next two years being key to their development.

Lewandowski, 37, scored 14 goals in La Liga for Barcelona last season and netted four times in 11 Champions League games. He is weighing his options, with a decision expected soon. If the move goes ahead, Lewandowski would be expected to sign until 2029, joining the likes of Lionel Messi at Inter Miami and Son Heung-min at Los Angeles FC as marquee names in the MLS.

Chicago Fire had anticipated that this summer would be the ideal time to bring Lewandowski on board, with the plan being to sign him in the next month, allowing him to join the team after the World Cup.
