Gonçalo Ramos set to join AC Milan for club record fee after PSG paid €65m in 2024

AC Milan are poised to sign Gonçalo Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain in a club-record transfer deal worth €50m plus add-ons, according to reports. This fee surpasses the €49.5m Milan paid to Lille for Rafael Leão in 2020 and is the highest paid by a Serie A club for a forward since Inter Milan signed Romelu Lukaku for €74m from Manchester United.

Ramos has reportedly completed his medical while on international duty with Portugal at the World Cup, where he featured for just seven minutes in a 1-1 draw against DR Congo. The 25-year-old striker has struggled to find form, failing to score for his country in the last four games and serving as a backup to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Since joining PSG from Benfica in 2024 for €65m, Ramos has scored 45 goals and provided 10 assists in 131 games across all competitions. However, he has failed to thrive under Luis Enrique's high-pressure pressing style, leading to a decline in his market value from €50m to €30m.

AC Milan, meanwhile, are seeking to revamp their squad after missing out on Champions League football. The club has appointed former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, who is familiar with Ramos from Portuguese football. The signing is expected to signal the club's ambitious goals for the upcoming season under new leadership.
