Iran's Neighbor Issues Ominous Warning of Severe Retaliation and Grave Consequences After Successfully Shooting Down Incoming Fire from Tehran

The United States and Iran engaged in a series of airstrikes throughout the weekend, despite the supposed implementation of a ceasefire, as peace talks between the two nations have stalled as of Monday. President Donald Trump has submitted a revised, tougher peace agreement to Iran, as talks appear to have reached an impasse on Monday, indicating a significant shift in the diplomatic approach. Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has officially resigned from his position, reportedly due to being excluded from key decision-making processes by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, according to Iranian media outlets. On Monday, Kuwait announced that it had intercepted airstrikes originating from Iran, following a flurry of attacks launched by U.S. forces, further escalating the tensions in the region. As a result of the ongoing conflict in Iran, oil prices experienced a significant surge of 2% in early trading on Monday, reflecting the substantial impact of the war on the global economy. Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong condemnation of Iran on Monday, denouncing the "heinous and repeated" attacks, after the country's forces successfully intercepted multiple missile and drone attacks launched from Tehran. Over the weekend, air raid sirens sounded across Kuwait as the nation's air defenses countered Iranian attacks, prompting the government to vow to "take whatever measures are necessary" to defend its territory and ensure the safety of its citizens.

In a formal statement, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the country's condemnation and denunciation, in the strongest possible terms, of the recurrent Iranian attacks, which are seen as a dangerous escalation and a direct assault on the security and stability of Kuwait, as well as a blatant violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026. Furthermore, these attacks pose a significant threat to the safety of civilians and vital facilities within the country. The statement emphasized that the continuation and repetition of these aggressions undermine efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and threaten the security and stability of the region, while also highlighting Kuwait's categorical rejection of these aggressive practices. Additionally, the Ministry affirmed Kuwait's reservation of its full right to take whatever measures are necessary to preserve its security and defend its territories, holding Iran fully responsible for these heinous aggressions, in accordance with international law, the United Nations Charter, and relevant Security Council resolutions.

According to U.S. Central Command, U.S. forces successfully intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles targeting American forces based in Kuwait late Sunday night. In a statement released on X, CENTCOM announced the interception, confirming that no American personnel were harmed during the incident. Similarly, Kuwait has not reported any casualties. As stated by CENTCOM, "Last night at 11 p.m. ET, U.S. forces successfully intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles targeting American forces based in Kuwait. These missiles were immediately defeated, and no American personnel were harmed." The statement continued, "U.S. Central Command remains vigilant and will continue to protect our forces from Iranian aggression while supporting the ongoing ceasefire."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized on Monday that Lebanon is still included in the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. In a statement, Araghchi clarified that "the ceasefire between Iran and the US is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon," and underscored that "its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts." This assertion highlights the importance of maintaining the ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon, to prevent any escalation of tensions.

Moreover, Araghchi held the United States and Israel responsible for the consequences of any violation of the ceasefire, emphasizing the need for all parties to respect the agreement. Despite the ceasefire, the weekend saw a series of strikes on all sides, with Iran launching attacks against the United States and Kuwait, and the United States responding with its own strikes on Tehran. Additionally, Israel carried out strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, following the launch of rockets into Israeli territory by the Iran-backed terrorist organization.

In a related development, President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that Iran has agreed to refrain from developing or acquiring nuclear weapons, describing this shift as a significant concession in the ongoing negotiations. However, the President also warned that further military action is still a possibility if the talks fail to yield the desired results. Trump noted that Tehran had already agreed not to develop a nuclear weapon, but he sought to ensure that they would not be able to purchase one either. As he explained on "My View with Lara Trump," "So now [the agreement] says, 'We will not develop or in any way purchase a military weapon.' That's a big difference."

The President expressed his preference for reaching an agreement, as it would allow the Strait of Hormuz to reopen immediately, leading to a significant decrease in gasoline prices and preventing additional casualties. Nevertheless, he cautioned that if Iran fails to meet his terms, "we're going to end it a different way." Trump also claimed that the United States has destroyed the Iranian navy and air force, accusing the media of downplaying American success in the region. Furthermore, he expressed hesitation about completely wiping out the remainder of Iran's military, citing concerns about the time it could take the country to rebuild afterward.

However, the President reserved the right to resume offensive action, which could be triggered by the collapse of negotiations or "a deal that wasn't going to be good for us." In a separate development, U.S. Central Command provided new details about a series of strikes it carried out against Iran over the weekend, following the shootdown of an American MQ-1 drone. In a statement on Monday, CENTCOM described the attacks as "self-defense strikes," targeting "Iranian radar and command and control sites for drones." The command explained that "the measured and deliberate strikes occurred on Saturday and Sunday in response to aggressive Iranian actions that included the shootdown of a U.S. MQ-1 drone that was operating over international waters."

Fighter aircraft responded swiftly and effectively by eliminating the Iranian air defenses, a ground control station, and two one-way attack drones that posed significant and clear threats to ships transiting through regional waters, as stated by CENTCOM. Fortunately, no American service members were harmed during this operation, which is a testament to the proficiency and precision of the US military. CENTCOM will continue to take necessary measures to protect U.S. assets and interests in response to unwarranted Iranian aggression, particularly during the ongoing ceasefire, as the statement further emphasized.

In a significant development, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly submitted a letter of resignation to the Office of the Supreme Leader, according to various reports. Citing a reliable source, Iran International reported on Sunday that the letter highlighted the fact that the president and his government had been deliberately excluded from major decision-making processes in Iran. The report also revealed that this ensuing power vacuum had allowed hard-line factions within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to seize control of key affairs, which has significant implications for the country's governance and stability.

In his letter, Pezeshkian allegedly wrote that, under these challenging circumstances, he is unable to govern effectively or fulfill his legal responsibilities, and therefore, he has requested to step down immediately. However, it remains unclear whether Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei's office will accept Pezeshkian's resignation, which has created a sense of uncertainty and anticipation.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump shared his perspective on the situation, describing Iranian officials as "very tough negotiators" and emphasizing that the United States is taking a patient and cautious approach to securing a broader agreement during an interview with Lara Trump. This statement is consistent with Trump's previous comments, as in April, he also stated that the Iranian regime was "seriously fractured," citing the country's internal divisions as one reason for extending the ceasefire indefinitely, just one day before the previous agreement was set to expire.
