Lionel Messi Steals the Show on Historic Night as Argentina Cruise to Convincing Victory Over Algeria in the World Cup

Lionel Messi marked his 200th appearance for Argentina with a hat-trick, leading La Albiceleste to a 3-0 victory over Algeria in their FIFA World Cup Group J opener.
The match began with two goals ruled out for offside within the first eight minutes, including a typical Messi strike. However, the Argentine captain eventually broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, driving a left-footed shot into the top corner after a slide-rule assist from Rodrigo De Paul.
Argentina dominated possession, with 68% of the ball leading into half-time, but Algeria managed to prevent them from increasing their lead. The North African side even had half-chances to level the score before the break.
In the second half, Messi doubled Argentina's lead with a simple finish after the keeper spilled Alexis Mac Allister's long-range effort. He then completed his hat-trick with a low drive from the edge of the area, bringing him level with Miroslav Klose as the World Cup's all-time joint-highest goalscorer with 16 goals.
The win gives Argentina a strong platform to defend their title, having won 14 of their last 16 matches in all competitions. In contrast, Algeria's poor World Cup record continues, with just one win in 10 matches since 1982.
