Manchester City reach agreement to sign Elliot Anderson - highly-rated midfielder set to smash transfer records?
Manchester City have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign England midfielder Elliot Anderson. The deal is expected to surpass the £125m British transfer record set by Liverpool for Alexander Isak last summer, with reports suggesting a fee around £130m.
Anderson, 23, joined Forest in 2024 for €41.2 million and has since made significant progress, scoring six goals and 11 assists in 92 games. His market value has risen from €15m to €75m, the highest gain among English top-flight midfielders since his move from Newcastle.
The fee Forest are seeking is higher than the €116.6m Arsenal paid for Declan Rice in 2023. If the deal goes through, it will break Manchester City's record for a central midfielder, currently held by Rodri's €70m move in 2019. The transfer may also challenge the club's all-time record of €117.5m paid for Jack Grealish in 2021.
