Matheus Cunha's First-Ever Brazil Double Could Mark the Beginning of a Prolific Goalscoring Streak for the Talented Forward

PHILADELPHIA — Matheus Cunha scored twice as Brazil defeated Haiti 3-0 in a Group C match. Cunha, who plays for Manchester United, had previously scored only one international goal in 24 caps. He broke the drought with a 13-minute brace, setting the tone for a three-goal first half.

Cunha's first goal came in the 23rd minute, as he poked home a rebound after Johny Placide repelled Vinicius Junior's shot. He added a second goal, showcasing his shooting power, after a through ball pass from Vinicius Junior.

Vinicius Junior scored Brazil's third goal before the interval, capping off a deserved win. Cunha was substituted off in the 64th minute but left the pitch with a confidence boost. He became the ninth Brazilian to record a World Cup brace and may reclaim his starting spot against Scotland in Miami, according to coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Cunha has been a key player in the English Premier League, scoring 10 goals for Manchester United last season. He will aim to lead Brazil to a top spot finish in Group C before competing in the UEFA Champions League later this year.
