Paris Deputy Mayor Slams Americans on Instagram Over France's Devastating Deadly Heat Wave

A recent heat wave in France has sparked a war of words between French officials and the US. Paris Deputy Mayor Audrey Pulvar blamed the United States for the deadly heat wave, citing its high rate of air conditioning usage. According to Bjorn Lomborg, air conditioning is used in 88% of US homes, compared to just 20% in Europe.

Pulvar criticized American journalists and social media influencers for mocking Paris' lack of air conditioning, saying the US bears significant responsibility for global warming as the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gas emissions. She argued that widespread air conditioning use in the US contributes to the problem.

The Deputy Mayor highlighted Paris' efforts to combat air pollution and develop energy-efficient renovations, saying that if American cities followed suit, the world would be better off. Pulvar defended the city's measures to fight climate change, saying that without them, the situation would be much worse.

France has been experiencing record-breaking heat, with temperatures above 104 degrees Fahrenheit, resulting in at least 48 drowning deaths. In response, authorities have imposed alcohol restrictions and limited large public gatherings, while reducing hours at famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre to protect tourists.
