Robert Lewandowski Completes Move to Chicago Fire, Sees Huge Opportunity to Become a Great Star in American Soccer

Robert Lewandowski has joined Chicago Fire as a free agent, signing a contract until the end of the 2027/28 season. The Polish striker met with Fire officials earlier this month, a meeting confirmed by head coach Gregg Berhalter. Berhalter believes Lewandowski has the potential to become a great star in America, stating, "He has every opportunity to become a great star in this country."

Lewandowski's decision to join Chicago Fire comes after the club presented him with a contract offer and outlined the project's details, including his potential role in the team. Berhalter said, "We talked about his position and how he could help the team win the championship." The Fire currently have the top goalscorer in the league, Hugo Cuypers, with 13 goals, and Berhalter thinks Lewandowski can help the team become the best in the league.

Despite interest from European clubs, including those in Italy, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Germany, Berhalter is confident that Chicago Fire has done enough to convince Lewandowski to choose the club. He highlighted the city's appeal, saying, "It is a beautiful city, and I am sure that Lewandowski has many options, but we want to show him that Chicago is a very good opportunity for him." With Lewandowski on board, the Fire, currently third in the Eastern Conference, will be looking to strengthen their position and make a push for the championship.
