Jurgen Klopp Reaches Agreement to Become Germany Manager Pending Red Bull Salzburg Approval

The German Football Federation (DFB) is nearing an agreement with Jurgen Klopp to become the new national team coach. However, the DFB must first secure approval from Klopp's current employer, the Red Bull Group.

DFB president Bernd Neuendorf and vice-president Hans-Joachim Watzke held initial discussions with Klopp in New York, reaching an understanding on key contract points. Negotiations are set to continue next week, with both parties confident of a successful outcome.

Klopp is the DFB's preferred candidate to succeed Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned after Germany's World Cup exit. The 59-year-old is highly regarded, having had successful spells at Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool. Since leaving Liverpool in 2024, Klopp has been overseeing Red Bull's multi-club network as head of global football.

Germany has struggled in recent World Cups, suffering two group-stage exits before their latest disappointment in North America. The country last won the World Cup 12 years ago in Brazil.
