Kylian Mbappe and France Fire Back at Paraguay Senator Over Racist Slur Controversy

French football star Kyllian Mbappé has strongly condemned Paraguay senator Celeste Amarilla for a racist tirade, labeling her a "despicable woman unworthy of her position." The incident occurred after France's 1-0 win over Paraguay in the 2026 World Cup round of 16, in which Mbappé scored the winning penalty.

Mbappé took to social media to express his outrage, stating that Amarilla's comments do not represent the people of Paraguay, who have shown "passion and honor" throughout the competition. He also vowed to combat racism and hatred, saying he will not allow individuals like Amarilla to spread their ideology.

The French Football Federation (FFF) has announced that it will report the incident to the public prosecutor's office and pursue legal action. The FFF has offered its full support to Mbappé, its players, and all victims of racist remarks, reaffirming its commitment to combating racism and discrimination.

This is the second consecutive World Cup where the FFF has had to defend Mbappé against racial abuse, following similar incidents after the 2022 World Cup final.
