Morgan Rogers Set to Undergo Chelsea Medical After £117m Deal Agreed in Significant Blow to Arsenal's Transfer Hopes

Arsenal's top summer transfer target, a versatile midfielder with the England squad at the World Cup, has chosen to join Chelsea instead. The player, who can play as a No10 or on either flank, is expected to sign a six-year deal with the Blues, with an option for an additional 12 months.

The midfielder scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists in 55 appearances last season, earning the UEFA Europa League Player of the Season award. The deal represents a significant profit for Aston Villa, who signed the player from Middlesbrough for around £8m two years ago.

This is the second time Arsenal have missed out on a key transfer target, following Manchester City's hijacking of their deal for Jeremy Monga. However, Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis in a deal worth around £33.8million.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's acquisition of the midfielder is a significant coup for the club, who have acted quickly to secure the player's services. The transfer is expected to be finalized once England's World Cup campaign comes to an end, with the team facing France in the third-place play-off on Saturday.
