Nashville Hosts Atlanta in Highly Anticipated Southern Rivalry Match for League Restart

Nashville SC, leaders in the Supporters' Shield, will host Atlanta United on Friday night, marking the resumption of the season following the 2026 FIFA World Cup break. Nashville entered the break on an eight-game unbeaten run, capped off with a 2-1 win over New York City FC, courtesy of goals from center backs Maxwell Woledzi and Jeisson Palacios.

The team's strong first half of the season has earned them a league-best four All-Stars and positioned their coach, B.J. Callaghan, as a candidate for the Sigi Schmid MLS Coach of the Year award. As the season resumes, Nashville will look to maintain their dominance and secure the East's No. 1 seed, fending off competition from Inter Miami CF.

Atlanta United, meanwhile, concluded the first half of their season with a 2-0 loss to the Columbus Crew. Despite this, they managed to take points from three of their last five games before the World Cup break. Under the guidance of newly appointed head coach Tata Martino, Atlanta has been bolstering their defense with the signings of international-caliber defenders Júnior Alonso from Paraguay and Paulo Díaz from Chile.

As the two teams face off, Nashville is favored to win at home, with nearly 70% of wagers placed in their favor, compared to Atlanta's 15%.
