Tadej Pogacar Extends Overall Lead at Tour de France Following Bruising Victory on Stage 14

Tadej Pogacar has secured his 25th stage victory at the Tour de France, winning stage 14 and extending his lead in the yellow jersey. The UAE Team Emirates XRG star launched a decisive attack on Col du Haag, 7km from the finish, leaving rivals Jonas Vingegaard and Paul Seixas in his wake.

Pogacar's teammate, Isaac Del Toro, took second place, while Seixas rounded out the podium. Vingegaard finished fourth, 44 seconds behind Pogacar, who repeated his 2023 victory on the same finish. The Slovenian's lead in the general classification now stands at 4:30 over the Dane, with Remco Evenepoel a further 34 seconds back in third.

The stage, which covered 155.3km from Mulhouse to Le Markstein, began in torrential rain, with the intermediate sprint neutralising the opening stages. A 24-man breakaway formed on the first climb, featuring Tom Pidcock, Richard Carapaz, and Valentin Paret-Peintre. However, UAE Team Emirates XRG controlled the pace, never allowing the quintet to gain more than three minutes.

As the final climb approached, Paret-Peintre and Einer Rubio were dropped, while Carapaz and Tobias Halland Johannessen pushed on. However, their efforts were thwarted by a fierce pace set by Vingegaard, which ultimately allowed Pogacar to ride away and claim victory. Seixas moved into the white jersey, taking 16 seconds from Juan Ayuso, while Pogacar retained the king of the mountains jersey.
