Analyst Predicts Limited Innovation for 2024 Apple Watch

Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has expressed doubts about the 2024 Apple Watch, suggesting it may not introduce significant innovations and is unlikely to adopt a micro-LED display.

In a Medium article, Kuo stated that the highly anticipated blood glucose monitoring feature is not expected to be available until at least 2025. He also made a prediction that this year's Apple Watch shipments could see a decline of around 15% year-on-year, totaling 36-38 million units.

Kuo suggested that if there is another year-over-year decline in 2024, the Apple Watch may require repositioning. He believes that integrating Vision Pro headsets with the Apple Watch could offer a unique and innovative health management experience, potentially boosting shipments for both products.

Meanwhile, Kuo anticipates a decrease in demand for Apple's 3nm chipsets, which are just beginning to enter the market in 2024. This could prompt major players to reevaluate their strategies.

Apple is expected to reduce orders for 3nm chips in the coming year, which will, in turn, lead to a 20 to 30 percent reduction in EUV equipment shipments by the Netherlands-based semiconductor company ASML.

Apple recently unveiled its latest offerings, the Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2, during its Wonderlust event. The Apple Watch Series 9 introduces a "Double Tap" hand gesture feature for touchless interaction, along with Precision Finding for iPhone, among other notable enhancements.

The Series 9 has undergone an internal redesign, incorporating a new Apple silicon chip with 60% more transistors and a 30% increase in processing speed compared to its predecessor, the S8 chip. Additionally, it boasts a four-core neural engine that delivers twice the speed for neural tasks.
