Breaking News: US Launches Retaliatory Strikes on Iranian Radar Sites After Drones Are Fired Toward Strait in Latest Escalation of Tensions Between Iran and the US

CENTCOM has confirmed that its forces successfully shot down four Iranian drones, which were identified as posing a significant threat to the region. President Donald Trump had previously announced the initiation of "major combat operations" against Iran on February 28, which involved massive joint U.S.-Israeli strikes targeting various military, government, and infrastructure sites. However, following the declaration of a two-week ceasefire, initial talks between the U.S. and Iran, held in Pakistan in April, unfortunately failed to yield a peace deal. Subsequently, Trump announced the open-ended extension of the ceasefire, while also confirming the continuation of a U.S. blockade until negotiations are concluded, regardless of the outcome.

In a recent development, six people have been killed and four others wounded in an airstrike that targeted the town of Saksakiyah, according to a report by Lebanon's National News Agency. Furthermore, Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of a total of nine people, including three members of the Lebanese military, as of Saturday. The Lebanese Army released a statement on Saturday morning, confirming that an Israeli airstrike targeting a military vehicle had killed two officers and one soldier. The Lebanese Army described the strike as an "aggressive and barbaric raid," stating that it had hit a military vehicle on the Kafr Tibnit - Kharbital (Nabatieh) road, resulting in the martyrdom of two officers, with ranks of brigadier general and captain, and a soldier. The statement emphasized that the continuation of Israeli aggression against Lebanon and its people and army only serves to increase their steadfastness, faith, and determination to confront these aggressive attempts, which are aimed at thwarting all efforts to reach a solution that allows for the restoration of stability, a comprehensive ceasefire, and the Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories.

U.S. forces played a crucial role in helping to shoot down incoming Iranian missiles and drones that were launched toward Kuwait and Bahrain, according to U.S. Central Command. The barrage, which consisted of a total of seven ballistic missiles, was fired at Iran's Gulf neighbors just hours after U.S. forces had shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that had been launched toward the Strait of Hormuz, as reported by CENTCOM in a social media post. The post stated that "initial assessments indicate six of the missiles launched by Iran were intercepted and a seventh did not reach its intended target," adding that "there are currently no reports of harm to U.S. personnel, and Iranian claims of damaging U.S. 5th fleet headquarters in Bahrain are false."

CENTCOM explained that the earlier launch of Iran's attack drones had posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic, prompting the U.S. to strike Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island in order to defend against further maritime attacks. The U.S. military had recently shot down four Iranian drones that had been launched toward the Strait of Hormuz, according to U.S. Central Command, which stated that "the attack drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic." In response to this threat, CENTCOM said that U.S. forces had taken action to defend against further maritime attacks.

Forces have conducted a series of strikes targeting "Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites" located in the city of Goruk and on Qeshm Island, with the primary objective of defending against potential further attacks.

This recent incident marks the latest development in a series of events that have occurred during the ceasefire, in which CENTCOM has reported defending against an Iranian action, subsequently launching retaliatory strikes at various Iranian targets.
