Christian Pulisic Isn't Playing for the USMNT vs Australia in the World Cup: What's Behind the Decision

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Christian Pulisic will miss the US men's national team's game against Australia due to a calf issue. The injury, which was aggravated during the team's match against Paraguay, has ruled Pulisic out of the clash in Seattle.

Pochettino downplayed the severity of the setback, stating that Pulisic's progress is "really well" and that he was training in the morning. The manager expressed hope that Pulisic would be ready to return to the team soon.

Pulisic's absence has led to changes in the team's lineup, with Malik Tillman shifting to the left wing and Sebastian Berhalter dropping into midfield. For the game against Australia, Pochettino opted to start Ricardo Pepi as a traditional center forward, rather than using Gio Reyna as a replacement for Pulisic.

The US team will face a tough challenge against Australia, but Pochettino is focused on the players who will take to the field. "Now we need to be focused on our team, on the players that are going to play," he said. The starting lineup for the game includes Matt Freese, Alex Freeman, Chris Richards, Tim Ream, and Antonee Robinson, among others.
