Spain's World Cup Glory Hopes Hit by Major Injury Blows Amid Maximum Concern

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has revealed that winger Yeremy Pino's World Cup campaign may be over due to a potential collarbone fracture. Pino suffered the injury in the 1-0 win over Uruguay after a fall on his shoulder, but played on until the final whistle as Spain had already used all its permitted substitutions.

De la Fuente praised Pino's effort, saying, "The man is suffering a lot and the effort he has made is tremendous, possibly with a broken collarbone to hold on until the end of the match... It has been heroic." Further tests will determine the extent of the injury, which could rule Pino out for several months.

Meanwhile, Athletic Club winger Nico Williams is also facing a potential tournament-ending hamstring injury, which he sustained just 14 minutes after entering the game. Williams had been carefully managed by De la Fuente due to a previous hamstring injury in May.

The injuries to Pino and Williams have added to Spain's woes, with Barcelona's Lamine Yamal and Victor Munoz also struggling with hamstring and muscle problems, respectively. Only Atletico Madrid's Alex Baena is believed to be operating at near full fitness among the team's wingers.

De la Fuente is facing a challenge in rotating his squad and keeping players fresh, with limited natural alternatives to Baena and Yamal. The team's starting striker Mikel Oyarzabal and Barcelona's Ferran Torres have experience on the wing, but play key roles in central positions. De la Fuente has until July 2 to find a solution before Spain's round of 32 match against the runner-up of Group J.
