Trump Urges Israel and Iran to Immediately Halt Attacks as Middle East Tensions Escalate in Latest Iran Live Updates

Iran initiated an attack on Israel in response to the Israeli airstrikes that were conducted in the Lebanese capital city of Beirut.
President Donald Trump made a public announcement on February 28, declaring the commencement of "major combat operations" against Iran, which involved extensive joint military strikes carried out by the United States and Israel, targeting a wide range of sites, including those related to the military, government, and infrastructure.

After the declaration of a temporary ceasefire lasting two weeks, the initial discussions between the United States and Iran, which took place in Pakistan during the month of April, ultimately did not result in the successful negotiation of a peace agreement.
The U.S. President, Donald Trump, subsequently announced that the ceasefire would be extended indefinitely and that the existing U.S. blockade would remain in place until the negotiations had reached a conclusion, regardless of the outcome, in a manner that would be definitive and final in either direction.

President Donald Trump took to social media on Monday morning, issuing a demand that both Israel and Iran must "immediately stop 'shooting'" in order to de-escalate the situation.

In response to the heightened tensions, several airports located throughout Iran made the decision to either suspend or cancel flights on Monday, as a result of the implementation of airspace restrictions and the introduction of heightened security measures, which were put in place amid the renewed Israeli airstrikes that have been targeting several different parts of the country.

The airports located in Shiraz, which is situated in central Iran, Kermanshah, which is positioned in the west, and Mashhad, which is situated in the northeast, were among the airports that announced flight cancellations and suspensions on Monday, as reported by the semi-official Iranian news agencies, ISNA and Mehr, which provided updates on the situation.

According to reports from Iranian state television on Monday, the city of Tehran was subjected to a renewed attack by Israel, following reports of massive explosions that had occurred in several different areas of the capital, resulting in a significant escalation of the situation.

State television reported that Israeli strikes had impacted various areas, specifically those located in the southern, eastern, and western parts of Tehran, and further stated that the country's air defenses had successfully targeted and engaged several drones that were detected in the vicinity.

The Israel Defense Forces has thus far declined to provide any official comment or statement regarding the recent explosions that occurred in Tehran, but in a statement released on Monday, the organization announced that it had completed a comprehensive and extensive series of strikes against what it described as "strategic defense systems" situated within Iran, as part of its ongoing military operations.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement on Monday, in which it announced that its aerospace force had carried out a missile strike targeting petrochemical facilities located in the northern Israeli city of Haifa, as a direct response to Israel's previous attack on Iranian petrochemical facilities, as reported by Iranian state television.

The statement released by the IRGC further emphasized that targeting civilian targets and oil facilities is essentially a highly risky and precarious strategy, referred to as a "dangerous game", which ultimately poses a significant threat to the entire energy infrastructure throughout the region.
