Trump's Endorsement Rocks Michigan Governor's Race as Rival Drops Out Within Hours

President Donald Trump has endorsed US Rep. John James, who is running for governor in Michigan. In a social media post, Trump declared, "It is my Great Honor to endorse America First Congressman, John James, who is running to become the next Governor of the Beautiful State of Michigan!" James thanked Trump, calling him "The greatest President of my lifetime."

Following Trump's endorsement, Michigan state Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt dropped out of the Michigan Republican gubernatorial primary and endorsed James. Nesbitt stated that a divided primary would only help Democrats and that it's time to unite behind James.

However, not all candidates are pleased with Trump's endorsement. Businessman Perry Johnson, who is also running in the primary, suggested that Trump had made the wrong move by backing James, citing James' previous statewide losses. Former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox also responded to the endorsement, asserting that he has won Michigan twice by building a coalition of working Michiganders and looks forward to being Trump's favorite governor when he wins.

The endorsement has shaken up the Michigan Republican gubernatorial primary, with James gaining significant support from Trump and Nesbitt. The move is seen as an attempt to unite the party behind a single candidate ahead of the November election.
