Bruno Guimarães to Arsenal? Newcastle Boss Eddie Howe Speaks Out After Holding Crunch Talks Amid Transfer Speculation

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has acknowledged that he has no control over Bruno Guimarães' potential departure this summer, with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea reportedly interested in the Brazilian midfielder.

Following a 1-1 draw with Gateshead, Howe expressed uncertainty about Guimarães' future, stating that he is not involved in conversations regarding the player's potential exit. He praised Guimarães as a great player and person but declined to comment further on his future.

Arsenal, the Premier League champions, have been linked with a move for Guimarães, with reports suggesting they made a verbal offer worth around €65 million in late June, which was rejected by Newcastle. However, the player has reportedly informed the club of his desire to join Arsenal, with the Gunners willing to pay up to €70m.

Guimarães joined Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022 for €42.1m and has established himself as a key player, making over 150 Premier League appearances and scoring 30 goals. He is also a crucial player for the Brazilian national team, starting all three games at the World Cup.

Arsenal are seeking midfield reinforcements after a grueling season, with targets including Genk's Konstantinos Karetsas and Borussia Dortmund's Felix Nmecha. Newcastle, who finished 12th in the Premier League last season, cannot offer Guimarães European football next term, which may influence his decision.
