Manchester United seal deal for Chelsea star Andre Santos in staggering €56.3m transfer move
Manchester United have completed the signing of Andre Santos from Chelsea in a deal worth €56.3 million, plus €2.4m in add-ons. The Blues will retain a 10% sell-on clause. Santos, 22, joined United after being used as a bit-part player at Chelsea, where he made 27 league appearances, mostly from the bench.
Chelsea had been reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival, but Santos was keen to join a bigger club and play more regularly. His current market value is €40m, but recent transfers of similar players allowed Chelsea to negotiate from a position of strength, given Santos' contract runs until 2031.
Santos was signed by Chelsea in July 2022 from Vasco da Gama for €12.5m and has made 47 appearances for the club, scoring three goals and registering five assists. A successful loan spell at Strasbourg, where he contributed 17 goals and assists in 45 games, earned him his first senior Brazil call-up. However, he missed out on the World Cup squad due to limited game time under Chelsea's management.
With the signing of Santos complete, Manchester United will now focus on completing a deal for Youri Tielemans.
