Kevin Paredes Completes Move to FC Utrecht on a One-Year Deal

Kevin Paredes has signed a one-year deal with FC Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie, with two option years. The 23-year-old American player joins from German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, where he made 65 appearances and scored four goals over four seasons. Injuries limited Paredes to just 10 appearances in his last two campaigns, culminating in Wolfsburg's relegation playoff exit.

Paredes had previously been considered for a loan move to FC Utrecht after joining Wolfsburg, making his permanent transfer to the club a straightforward decision. "I could have played here a few seasons ago," he said, expressing his excitement about the move. Paredes becomes the latest American player to join FC Utrecht, following Paxten Aaronson and Taylor Booth, and has earned four caps with the US men's national team.

FC Utrecht finished sixth in the Eredivisie last season, securing a spot in the UEFA Conference League qualifying round. Paredes' move is seen as an opportunity for him to revive his career, which had been hindered by injuries in recent seasons.
