Moriyasu Praises Japan's Tenacious Fightback as They Battle Netherlands to Thrilling 2-2 Draw

Japan coach Hajime Moriyasu praised his team's determination after they came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with the Netherlands at the World Cup on Sunday. Despite the gritty performance, Moriyasu expressed disappointment at not securing all three points.

The match in Texas was a thrilling encounter, with three goals scored in 13 minutes. Japan defended resolutely in the first half, launching a few attacks before the Netherlands took the lead through Virgil van Dijk's header six minutes after the break. Keito Nakamura equalized soon after with a fierce low shot.

The Netherlands regained the lead through Crysencio Summerville's brilliant strike, but Japan levelled again with two minutes left, courtesy of Koki Ogawa's neat header. Moriyasu acknowledged the difficulty of fighting back but was proud of his team's tenacity and patience.

Japan will meet Tunisia in Monterrey on June 20th, while Sweden face Tunisia later on Sunday in the other Group F match.
