Nancy Guthrie Abduction: Second Ransom Note Sent to Tucson TV Station Claims She Has Been Killed

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie, was kidnapped from her Arizona home on February 1. A ransom note sent to a Tucson television station claimed she died after her abduction, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

The Guthrie family received two potentially credible ransom notes, with the first demanding cryptocurrency for Nancy's return. The second note stated she had died shortly after being taken and was buried in nature.

Savannah Guthrie posted a statement on Instagram on February 7, pleading for her mother's return. In her first interview in March, she spoke with former co-host Hoda Kotb, saying her family "cannot be at peace" without answers and urging anyone with information to come forward.

Images from Nancy Guthrie's doorbell camera showed a masked man at her house, but the suspect remains unidentified and her whereabouts unknown. The FBI and local authorities are investigating, and anyone with information is urged to contact them at 1-800-CALL-FBI or the Pima County Sheriff's Department at 520-351-4900.
