Benji Flowers set to sign for Chelsea - FC Dallas wonderkid will join the Blues once he turns 18
Chelsea have signed 15-year-old winger Benji Flowers from FC Dallas, with the transfer set to be completed when he turns 18. Flowers has a first-team contract with FC Dallas until the end of the 2030/31 season, with a club option for the 2031/32 season. The initial transfer fee is $3m, which could rise to $10m with add-ons.
Although Flowers is yet to appear in Major League Soccer, he has made his professional debut for North Texas SC, FC Dallas' affiliate in the MLS NEXT PRO league, at the age of 14. This makes him one of the youngest players to feature in the league since its establishment in 2022.
Flowers will join a growing list of players to emerge from the FC Dallas academy and make the jump to a top European club, including Chris Richards, Ricardo Pepi, Bryan Reynolds, and Tanner Tessmann. The trend of MLS clubs selling young players to European teams for significant transfer fees is on the rise, with teenagers increasingly thriving in the league.
