The 'Big Bang Theory' Couple Fans Wanted More of is Finally Back Together Again

"The Big Bang Theory" captivated audiences for 12 seasons with its portrayal of unlikely romances, including the sweet and geeky love story of Stuart and Denise. The couple, played by Kevin Sussman and Lauren Lapkus, joined the show in Season 11 and quickly became a fan favorite. Their romance, which began over a shared love of comic books, culminated in a proposal in the comic book store where Stuart worked.

Lapkus expressed surprise at being cast in the new HBO Max series "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe," which follows the couple's adventures in a dystopian reality. "I was thrilled to be on 'The Big Bang Theory,' but to get the call to be on the spinoff six years later was unexpected," she said. The new series allows the couple's relationship to continue, exploring new facets and realities.

In "Stuart Fails to Save the Universe," the couple navigates a world falling apart due to a machine created by Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter. The show opens with Denise trying to rob Stuart in a "Mad Max"-style reality, but they soon reunite and work together to survive. Sussman noted that the new series expands on the couple's relationship, saying, "The love started with 'Big Bang,' but 'Stuart Fails to Save the Universe' really explores many more facets to it."
