Fulham complete signing of highly touted youngster Jonah Kusi-Asare with Bayern Munich retaining buy-back clause option
Fulham have completed the signing of 18-year-old striker Jonah Kusi-Asare from Bayern Munich on a permanent deal. The Swedish forward, who made 10 first-team appearances for the Cottagers in 2025/26, has signed a contract until June 2031. The west London club has agreed to pay €6 million for the teenager.
Kusi-Asare impressed Fulham's youth coaches with his performances for the Under-21 development squad, scoring four times in five appearances. With Raúl Jiménez leaving for Wolves, first-team opportunities may be easier to come by under new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa. Kusi-Asare expressed his happiness at joining Fulham permanently, stating that he felt part of the "Fulham family" from his first week.
Vice-chairman and sporting director Tony Khan welcomed Kusi-Asare, describing him as a "very talented young player with massive potential." The fee agreed is a significant reduction on the reported buyout clause in his loan deal, which was thought to be as high as €12 million. Bayern Munich has included a buy-back clause in the deal, giving them first option to re-sign Kusi-Asare in the future.
The buy-back clause could prove crucial for Bayern, allowing them to bring Kusi-Asare back if he develops into the player they expect him to be. This strategy has been successfully used by Real Madrid in the past. Bayern Munich will make a tidy profit from the sale, having signed Kusi-Asare from Swedish side AIK for €3.5 million in 2024. FC Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl stated that Kusi-Asare's transfer is an example of how the club develops international talent at the highest level.
