Iran Under Fire: Kuwait and Bahrain Report Attacks After Latest US Strikes on Iranian Targets
Two US service members were killed in recent Iranian attacks on Jordan, amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran. President Donald Trump had announced "major combat operations" against Iran on February 28, with joint US-Israeli strikes targeting military, government, and infrastructure sites.
Despite ongoing peace talks, the US and Iran have continued to exchange limited strikes, with the Strait of Hormuz being a key flashpoint. The US Embassy in Amman, Jordan, warned Americans to avoid traveling to the airport and seaport in Aqaba due to a "specific and credible threat." However, Jordanian government spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani denied any evacuation orders had been issued.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have intercepted four commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that two had stopped after an accident, while the other two refused to continue their route. The IRGC asserted its navy was in "complete control" of the strait.
Meanwhile, Bahrain's Interior Ministry confirmed air alert sirens had sounded, urging residents to seek safe shelter, after the Bahrain Defence Force reported fresh aerial attacks by Iran. Kuwait's Armed Forces also reported repelling missile and drone attacks in response to Iran's aggression. Delegations from the US and Iran had entered negotiations in June, aiming for a war-ending deal based on a memorandum of understanding.
